In Retrospect: As We Move Forward

As We Move Forward
Well, that it. Those are the credits and links for the infographic and some new art of Kamiko, her younger self Natsumi, and her (their) sister Hana.
I want to thank you again for reading This Mortal Coil: The Rabbit and the Moon.
And, I'm not done with this comic world yet.
There may not be another comic until later this year, but in the meantime here's what's coming up:
A Book
I want to try my hand at putting together my entire comic as a book. It would include the comic, the Lolita Turntable, and some blog posts detailing the creation of this comic including this retrospective.
I do have lingering questions about a book though especially if I sell it -- some of Kamiko's dresses are based off actual designs so there could be some issue there. Jade sometimes talks with the lupine language found in Watership Down, so it's not something I invented but pay homage too. I feel it's best if I asked permission for a printed work, especially if it'll be sold.
Despite those quasi-legal issues, I'd like to have a printed copy for myself as a keepsake and maybe a few to give to close friends or contributors.
If you're interested in a book, then make your voice heard. If I hear enough of it, maybe we can figure something out. A Kickstarter? An electronic version?
I could even table at the Alternate Press Expo, but I'm not confident about that yet.
Maybe in 2017.
Storywriting
In the past few weeks, I've been going back to do two things I haven't in a long time: reading novels and writing.
It's probably what I will do for a while.
Mainly because I need a new script for This Mortal Coil. I have an extensive backlog of ideas (bits and bobs) that need to be fleshed out.
I was thinking of writing short stories for Kamiko as yet another way of expressing This Mortal Coil. I'd also like to write short fiction or play with my other non-TMC story ideas.
We'll see.
I'll post my progress on the blog.
The Shrine
There's a lot of work to be done here mostly in creating content so I can get it to where I want it. That plays hand-in-hand with the visual development of the comic and my interest in storywriting.
Plus it's a multimedia affair so I can do some other fun things with it. Ultimately, it could be a timesink, so I'll have to limit the scope of what I do here.
Blogging and Social Media
As I make these new things, I'll share them. Weekly on this site and as often as possible on social media.
I also want to make video content that explores more of what I did with This Mortal Coil. I can teach you how I did the website or go indepth with the animation process for "The Miracle" and touch on other topics. I don't know how often I will do this though.
So follow me on Twitter and Instagram.
The New Comic
Yes, what will it be about?
As I share my stories you'll get an idea of what I'm thinking, but I'd also be curious as to what you think. What would you want to see? Drop a note in the comments.
I want to make the story less obtuse, and I'd like to do something simpler and focus on Kamiko and grow her as a character. The Rabbit and the Moon was a bit muddled with respect to that.
I know going forward the stories can't take me 4 years to make, unless it's really stellar. This means that stories will probably have 32-64 page so I can fit it into a year.
Maybe I can start interleaving story A, B, and C plots.
Maybe, I'll go even fewer with 6-12 page stories. Something I can accomplish in a few months.
It would be a challenge, but a strong short story would be a great balance between doing this comic and wanting time to pursue other activities.
The Infographic
I'll post the entire infographic next Wednesday under the blog. If you're reading this via RSS, you won't see it here.
Until then have a good weekend.
I hope you got something out of this. At least this let me spill my guts and put a capstone on the this giant project.
Oh, if you're wondering... the title "As We Move Forward" is another favorite song of mine from Family Crest.
Read it Again
You've probably read the comic in bits and pieces over the course of those years...
